Step by step, layer by layer, we renovated this bathroom to where you see it now, a beautiful primary bathroom. A whole bathroom planned around custom tile installation. When we work on a house, every installation technique is done to maximize the lasting, low maintenance, functionality of tile. When we build a bathroom we’re thinking about what it’s going to be like for the homeowner to use the space day after day.

Wood framed houses and water don’t mix. Tile needs a solid foundation to last. The value isn’t there if all the stuff behind the walls isn’t up to snuff. Miss one part of the process and the finished product isn’t as good as it could have been.

It started out as an enclosed shower, with the gold framed, squeaky shower door. You’ve seen it before: White 4x4 subway tile. The inside of the shower was dark. The fixtures were dated. The bathroom floor was a travertine. It had failed many years prior, showing cracks and loosening tiles.

April 2025 we started. We demoed the bathroom and made an assessment. NOTHING was level, square, plumb or flat. No problem, we busted out the lasers and got to work.

I really wanted to show the work… THE FULL context of what we were doing. Jason and I decided to take the time to make full length videos about this project.

How do you think we did?

We’ve done these full length videos before, but it had been a while. April to July I filmed what we were doing on this very advanced bathroom remodeling project.

This entire bathroom was down to the studs. This is truly a Hamilton Tile bathroom remodel. We handled every part of this bathroom remodel: demolition, framing, material supply, sheet rock, painting, trim, tile, glass, stone tops, cabinets…

Having worked in these bathrooms for so many years, we’ve become experts in the area. We filmed ourselves executing the plan!

I’ve said it before, but our content is a service to the public and to the people that will eventually hire us. Jason isn’t necessarily a “camera facing” type of person. I was in plays and did WWE wrestling events in my buddy’s living room…so I don’t mind the camera.

I’d like to give Jason a round of applause for putting up with this process. He’s a professional tile setter and not a content creator. I foist a lot of this onto him!

Those were a labor of love to make. I’m glad to have it all documented. We can display our work, educate and entertain at the same time.

We’d like to thank Charlie and Cindy at Tile house of Marietta for supplying all of the tile for this project. They’ve been showing a commitment to supply and service for over a decade. We couldn’t do this without them.

This bathroom has a heated floor. We install the Ardex flexbone heated floor. All of the tile edges were edged with Schluter Jolly profiles, a new variety made for use on wall applications. Schluter produces corners for these profiles and they turn out very slick.

Chattahoochee Glass doors provided and installed the glass doors on this project. We’ve established a decade long relationship with them. One of the primary reasons is because they are conscious of our waterproofing. They LIMIT or ELIMINATE all together the use of CLIPS AND SCREWS on our curbs and horizontal surfaces. Sometimes, as in this situation, it’s impossible but they continue to help us ensure our customers receive a watertight shower.

The homeowners also wanted an under mount tub. These are different because the stone sits on top of the tub, instead of the tub sitting on top of the stone. It’s not very common and the neighbors probably won’t have one like this. We would like to thank Melissa at Top South for helping with the stone tops. She consistently provides fantastic service.🙏

We’d also like to thank our plumber, Matt Harrison. He’s a state licensed, master plumber- he checks those boxes. PLENTY of people have those qualifications and that is great! What makes Matt special is that he’s solid as a rock. He goes the mile to make sure these expensive fixtures are put in correctly and does it with the intention of having them last. He always strives to make things WORK and LOOK at they should. We work SIDE BY SIDE with him on every project. We would like to thank him for his hard work and patience!🚽

We were overjoyed with our friend Scott, who happens to be a very good painter. We met him on another project and asked if he wanted to do this one. We had this ENTIRE bathroom down to studs…all new drywall and mud…Scott brought it back to a much improved finish. ABOVE EVERY DOOR FRAME is painted. ALL SIX SIDES OF THE DOORS. He sanded trim and walls. I’ve found that to be uncommon and he knocked it out of the park. ⚾

One of the cleanest things that we coordinated: The top edge of profiles…where the Schluter Jolly edge meets the wall…We grouted the tile, Scott came in and finish painted the walls…we came back and siliconed between the wall and the Jolly edge. It was all about having the steps performed in the right order. I believe we achieved the cleanest look possible.

There were a couple spots with a stone mosaic. The mosaic added a touch of flare that really added to this bathroom.

We’d like to thank the homeowners here for having us. This is the second bathroom in the home that we remodeled and we’re very grateful for excellent customers, like these.

Step by step, layer by layer - we hope to do our best work on every bathroom remodel we get.

We like to make them robust, we like to make sure everything is solid and then install tile the best way that we know how. With a project like this NOTHING IS PERFECT, but tile is an art - and the tile artform has survived for one more really nice bathroom.

Custom bathroom remodel cabinets: Sandy Springs, GA

One of my favorite details on this bathroom, is the use of TILE BASE. Around the entire perimeter of this bathroom, where it was possible, we installed tile 4” up the wall. We embedded a protective Schluter Jolly Profile on the top and siliconed between the wall and the profile. A very clean look. Easy to clean. Won’t dent or rot.
