Schluter systems is really a great company. They make sure to keep installers AND homeowners informed and educated about the importance of having a shower or tub surround waterproof, while also pointing out the advancements in the tile industry. I'd say a very important factor in a great tile guy is whether they keep themselves educated in their trade.
